The Macaroons that I used to buy from the bakers when I was very young were always flatish with a slight dome, they had an almond stuck into the top, they always had a cracked surface and a piece of rice paper on the bottom,a wee bit sticky in the centre, lovely!

Hi folks, good to have you back in print for us plebs how cant get on to your facebook chats. Many years ago in my hippy days,a friend and I were traveling across Europe and reached Istanbul(not Constantinople)We were walking along a major thoroughfare, which, just for a moment had no traffic on it,due to the lights having changed at the other end.Not a car in sight either way.As the lights changed to let the first few cars through, there was a deafening sound of car horns,on this empty road as the first wave of cars tore down the road towards us,so its not just a South American thing!
